I'd estimate it as 5-6 inches at our house; officially, Athens got 6.5. According to the Athens Banner Herald, the last time we had this much snow was 1987; the vaunted snows of 1993 amounted to only 3 inches in Athens. As you can imagine, the city seems not to own a snowplow, and as far as we can tell nobody (including us) owns a snow shovel, or salt, or sand. But it was in the 40s Monday, and south-facing sidewalks are clear as of Tuesday AM, and the middles of the streets are bare. It's supposed to hit 50 today, so we should be clear by the time I get home from work.
The house is fine, with no leaks, despite the wet and very heavy snow. There are some trees down in the neighborhood, including a big pecan next door and another pecan that fell on an SUV parked in the street and hung there all day Monday (with cars driving under it!). Those seem to have been hit by the double whammy of two days of heavy rain followed by wet and heavy snow. We have some minor and a couple of major branches down (magnolias in particular seem to have shed branches), but nothing hit the house, and nothing too serious.
