I emailed four hvac/insulation contractors recommended by the fellow who did our home energy audit and on the list of contractors approved for Energy Star work by Georgia Power. Just a simple, "Hi we live in Athens, do you work in our area, or can you work with a subcontractor in our area," since all 4 are basically in metro Atlanta.
I got back a "no" right away from one, and have heard nothing from the others. Unfortunately we can only get Georgia Power rebates for having work done if we work with one of their approved Energy Star contractors, but if nobody is willing to come out to Athens, what are we supposed to do?
There is still a federal tax rebate as an option, but it seems unfair for Georgia Power to have a rebate program that not all of their customers can take advantage of due to geography.
