A Better Gardener

The theme for this summer's gardening efforts has been floppiness. I thought the structure of raised beds and the availability of a lattice under the deck would hep prevent plants from flopping all love the place, but no.

Our neighbors down the street have a beautiful garden in their front yard, and they have some great structural supports up that I would like to work on emulating in my garden.

Here is their cucumber bed:

The tomatoes have a netting protecting the whole thing from squirrels - something that might have saved my tomatoes!

In general, they have packed a huge amount of production into a small space in their front yard (the only part that gets much sun). Truly a garden to inspire me.

I had another good picking of beans and a cucumber this weekend. I took 3 green tomatoes off the dead heirloom plants and maybe they'll ripen up.
