Site Plan

I finally sat down (on the porch, while Michael was trimming the box hedge) recently and sketched out our entire yard. It's not precisely to scale, but it's fairly accurate I think. The trees in the backyard cast more shade than it looks like - really, the entirety of the back yard behind the vegetable beds qualifies as full shade.



I'm accumulating a list of projects and plans for the yard as soon as it gets cool enough to comfortably work out there. I'd like to screen the AC unit by planting some native grasses, build & acquire some more supports for vegetables, ameliorate the soil in various locations, build a compost bed (Michael has a plan for this), and plan adding a rain barrel. We also need to deal with the downed apple tree that's resting on the shed, and the jungle (partly kudzu) that has grown over it.

But not in August.
