Master Bedroom: Plastering and Painting

Michael and I have been sleeping (in our bed) upstairs in Peter's bedroom since we moved into the house in April.  This is a problem, because a) Peter stays up later than I do sometimes and b) he sings himself to sleep. My goals for my birthday (Sept. 6) was to have the downstairs bedroom in decent shape to move into. I made it! Almost!

Before: This smallish bedroom, with an attached greenhouse, was wallpapered, and had a pink decor scheme.

The wallpaper came off pretty easily, but left some glue/remnants, which needed to be scraped.

Then we plastered. Okay, Michael plastered. I sanded some.

Then we primed.

Then we painted - Colorhouse Water 04, which was the color we used in our dining room in Athens.

I slept in the room on Sept. 7th!

We got some insanely long curtians from Ikea. I think I am going to cut them off, hem them, and use the bottoms to make curtains for Peter's room. We also got a new rug. What you can't see in photos is that there is some serious termite damage in the floor (stick oak) and in fact this room needs a floor joist replaced and there's possibly some sill work, too. When we do more serious renovations we hope to make this room bigger, so we'll redo the floor (and structural work) at that point.

The mirror on the back of the closet door is quite old, and has some nice old trim that's sadly overpainted. The door hardware is also old and really nice. The cats like to sleep on the bed. I am glad to not be sleeping in Peter's room.
