Our hero the steamer helped get the blue wallpaper off the chimney. I have come to really enjoy having plaster walls; wallpaper comes off like a dream with steam. The only problem is I've developed tennis elbow in my right arm as a result of all the repetitive motion and I've had to slow down considerably and take long breaks because it's painful.

This photo clearly shows how dirty the ceiling was.
Painting a textured ceiling is actually really hard work, and you don't look pretty while doing it.
Everyone helped the day we turned the walls Yolo Colorhouse Clay 01. We listened to a streaming 1980s hits radio station while we painted, which amused the parents and mystified the children.

It did take 2 coats to get good coverage with this paint. the edging along a textured ceiling is incredibly tricky and needs some touch-up. We left the ceiling primed but did not paint since when we undertake major renovations we intent to remove the texture. The window trim is patched with wood filler, primed and painted (Yolo Air 01), but we haven't done the baseboards or trim around the doorways yet.
Pictures with the furniture in and pictures hung on the walls coming soon! Assuming we ever hang pictures.
