Closet Removal

It's spring break week and while many of the kids' friends have decamped to fun locations, tropical or "it should be warmer than this since it's the end of March," we're working our butts off. A lot is in progress right now, but here's a completed project.

The entryway had an added-on closet - a logical thing, because everyone wants a coat closet, but it wasn't very well finessed and looked thrown on.

In fact, it was clearly built on top of wall-to-wall carpeting that covered the entry at some point.
Well, it came down in about an hour yesterday.

You'd hardly know it was there! The moldings will not really need any repair.

The floor finish is fascinating - it's much lighter than the current finish (we ripped up a piece of probably 50 year old carpet to reveal it). There is also a fairly terrifying antique outlet that we will not be plugging anything into even if it is attached (and will eventually remove/replace.)
