We moved here in July 2008. Since then we've had a relatively heavy snowfall every winter. Yesterday's snow - officially 8.8 inches, although it's more like 6 at our house - is even the second snow of the winter, after Christmas day snow. And here's this timeline, from the paper:
Sunday’s and Monday’s snowfall ranks as some of the heaviest ever to hit Athens. Recent memorable snowstorms include:
► Jan. 9-10, 2011: 8.8 inches
► Feb. 12, 2010: 4.5 inches
► March 1, 2009: 6.5 inches
► March 12,1993: 2.7 inches
► Jan. 22, 1987: 7.1 inches
► Feb. 11, 1984: 8 inches
► March 24, 1983: 8.4 inches
► Feb. 27, 1982: 7.4 inches
I think at this point it might make economic sense to buy a snowplow. I heard a report of one on Baxter Street yesterday, but having seen Prince this morning - looking completely unplowed - I tend to doubt it.
