We have a ceiling!

It is apparently traditional to undertake large home improvement projects over the July 4 long weekend. In keeping with tradition, we installed a drywall ceiling in the downstairs bathroom (between visits to the pool, viewing of Toy Story 3, and fireworks).

Michael, of course, did most of the work. He figured out how to get two 4x8 foot sheets of drywall home on our Toyota Matrix, added some framing members to the existing space to make the ceiling more secure, and put up the drywall. I helped a little bit with the last step, but it was mostly him.

Now we need to tape, mud, sand, etc. That's another Michael job. I'll take over when we get to the painting! In addition to painting the new ceiling, we'll need to repaint the walls (which needed it anyway). And while we're at it, I hate the light fixture... but we're determined to not go overboard and undertake a complete bathroom renovation at this point (because to do that properly would involve moving walls and windows and another room and...)

Exciting tools purchased for the project: T square, framing hammer. (We borrowed our neighbor's saw). Pictures later this week.
