The House

Last summer we moved here:

24. the street you live on

Our house was built in 1920, or possibly 1928. It was originally a one-story house, but the attic was converted at some point and is now a master suite with a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom and a small office area. Downstairs there are two bedrooms (one big, one small), a bathroom, two living rooms (!), a dining room, a small galley kitchen, a nice front porch, a big back deck, and a laundry room off the desk.

The front yard is little but we inherited a well-tended garden inside our picket fence. We first saw the house in late May, and moved in in July, so we will have surprises this spring. Due to some very warm weather in December, we've got 4 to 6 inch shoots from bulbs up in many places already.

We have a big lot that's mostly in the back, with 4 large pecan trees making it mostly shady in the summer. Here's where we'll plan to focus most of our garden energies in the short term.

  1. Phoebe, your house is lovely! The grass looks gorgeous from where I'm sitting, and I envy your big back yard. Also, love the light switch. I think you raised the value of the house at least $15 with that one purchase.
