Now he's mostly done with the mudding and sanding; we have one final sand left and then we'll be ready to paint.

I'll take over at that point. I think we have enough yellow left over from the upstairs bedroom to do the walls, and ceiling paint can be the Air 01 that we used on the sloping walls upstairs. I also have trim paint in Air 01, and all the trim needs to be redone, because whoever last painted it did latex over oil without priming, and a lot of it can be peeled off in sheets with my fingernails, like so:

In fact, the previous painter painted over oil paint without even cleaning the door - it was filthy under the latex paint (here it's been washed so the peach oil paint shows.)
I am torn between going ahead and stripping the entire door all the way down to bare wood, or just getting the latex off, giving it a rough sand, and then priming and covering it. The doors, while probably original to the house, are nothing fancy - not very thick or solid and probably not even hardwood. The hardware on this door is replacement, obviously, but I think we've decided to leave all the bathroom fixtures and hardware for now, until someday we can do an extensive bathroom renovation.
